The Power of Mudras

Hasta mudras (hand gestures or seals) have long been used as part of a yoga or meditation practice. They have been associated with ensuring the free flow of prana (energy) around the body, deepening awareness and concentration and altering our mood, attitude and perception.

Garuda Mudra (pictured above) is said to help activate blood circulation, balance energy levels, reduce mood swings and mental agitation and alleviate exhaustion.

Sit upright with the palms resting on the chest, fingers stretched wide and thumbs linked. Hold for 10 deep breaths. It’s said that if you practise Garuda Mudra three times a day every day for 40 days you’ll begin to feel the benefits.
